One night Dad heard the soft whispering of a cluster of incendiaries coming down straight above his head. He just managed to get under a costermongers barrow before they hit. Then there was a ring of them burning around him and several burning through the barrow on top of him. He escaped by taking a flying kick at one of them, to make a gap to run through.
